Microsoft fixes 1,411 vulnerabilities in the October Patch Tuesday
Microsoft shipped its October patch release with 1,411 vulnerabilities fixed, 70 of them critical, plus three zero-days, one already exploited, according to BleepingComputer.
What happened
According to BleepingComputer’s count, the October 2026 Patch Tuesday fixed 1,411 vulnerabilities, a record for Microsoft. Seventy were rated critical: 57 allowed remote code execution, 11 elevation of privilege and 2 spoofing. The release also addressed three zero-days: one was being exploited and two had been publicly disclosed.
Why it matters
It cuts across Microsoft environments and becomes an operational priority for many IT teams. Remote code execution, privilege escalation and flaws already under attack mean you have to prioritise by exposure and severity, not by the order of the list.
What we recommend
Start with the exploited zero-day and with remote code execution flaws on internet-facing systems; roll out in rings, a pilot group first and then the rest; and check patch compliance in Intune or your own tooling, forcing pending restarts. The same update ends support for Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro, so review which machines will stop receiving fixes.
