Cloud migration without stopping the business

We move to the cloud what makes sense to move, and we merge or split Microsoft 365 environments when the company changes. In waves, with a rollback plan and without stopping the business.

Two kinds of migration

What can be moved

Not all migrations look alike: one changes the infrastructure, the other changes the organisation.

Servers and applications to the cloud

Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or a hybrid model: move what gains from the cloud and keep on site what still makes sense there.

Mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs and rebrands: mail, files and Teams move from one environment to another without anyone stopping work.

How we do it

First we decide what is worth moving; then how to move it without surprises.

1. Assessment

Inventory of servers and applications, dependencies between them, current cost and a decision per system: move, keep or retire.

2. Destination design

Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or hybrid. We choose the platform for what the application needs and the team that will run it, not from a catalogue.

3. Security and compliance from day one

Identities, network, encryption, backups and data location in the European Union when regulation or your policy requires it.

4. Migration in waves

Groups of systems with agreed windows and a rollback plan for each wave: if something does not go as expected, we go back to the previous state.

5. Operations and cost control

Once in the cloud, spend is watched with alerts, budgets and a periodic resource review.

Microsoft 365

Tenant-to-tenant migration

When two companies merge, one leaves its group or changes its brand, mail, files and Teams have to move to another environment without anyone stopping work. We do it with Quest On Demand Migration, as an official partner.

When it is needed

Mergers and acquisitions; carve-outs and leaving a group; consolidating several tenants into one; rebranding or changing domain.

What we migrate

Mail (mailboxes, archives, shared and resource mailboxes, public folders), OneDrive with its versions and permissions, SharePoint with sites, permissions and metadata, Teams with channels, files, conversations and Planner tasks, Microsoft 365 groups, and accounts and Active Directory.

While the migration runs

Both organisations share the mail domain, calendar availability and address book; mail is routed in an orderly way as each environment switches.

Without visiting every desk

Outlook, OneDrive and Teams are reconfigured on users devices centrally and on a schedule.

Five steps, from assessment to close

1. Inventory and pre-assessment

What is in each tenant, what moves and what does not, and what depends on what before anything moves.

2. Wave plan

By department or site, with agreed dates and the order that interrupts work the least.

3. Coexistence of both organisations

Shared domain, calendar availability and address book while the two environments live side by side.

4. Migration and desk reconfiguration

Data is migrated and Outlook, OneDrive and Teams are reconfigured centrally, without going desk to desk.

5. Close

Licences in the old tenant, domain removal and user support during the first days.

Cost is controlled, not discovered at month end

Alerts and budgets

Consumption alerts and a periodic resource review so the bill does not arrive as a surprise.

Common questions

Questions about Cloud migration

Do you migrate without stopping the business?
Yes: in waves, with agreed windows and a rollback plan for each phase.
Do I have to move everything to the cloud?
No. We move what makes sense to move; hybrid is usually the most cost-effective option.
How much can I save?
It depends on the starting point: in most environments the saving comes from switching off what is not used and right-sizing what is. We measure it before proposing anything.
Which cloud suits me?
The one that fits your applications, your licences and your team; we decide in the assessment.
Does my data stay in Europe?
It can stay in European Union regions when regulation or your policy requires it.
Do users lose mail or files when changing tenant?
No: they are migrated with their history, permissions and versions, and checked before close.
Can both companies work together in the meantime?
Yes: they share the domain, calendars and address book during coexistence.
Do you have to touch every computer?
No: Outlook, OneDrive and Teams are reconfigured centrally and on a schedule.
